Got GPG keys?

Got GPG keys?

If not, you can get them at https://www.freegpg.org

This is an online interface for:

  • creating your own public and private key (the private key is not stored online)
  • encrypting and decrypting messages
  • looking up the public key of other freegpg members

The online interface is a lot easier than the plugins for the mail clients, especially for windows, plus the look up feature is nice, because I never remember where I put everyones public key, or I reformat and the don’t have them any more, or the person has to generate new keys, and I encrypt a message with their old public key.

Here is my public key (dougw[at]linuxsecurityblog.com):

    Hey Doug,

Great blog and great site! Do you think in an upcoming post you could discuss how viruses work and how they’re coded? I’ve seen you post samples of viral code that just look like gibberish, and I’ve always wondered how viruses do all of the malicious things they do. Looking forward to future posts!

Viruses as far as in websites go, look like gibberish because they are obfuscated. Normally they will call another URL, or be a javascript virus to exploit a vulnerability in the browser. Most of these are design to put malware on the users computer.
